What are the choices one would face living at the poverty line ?

Chinese photographer Stefen Chow and economist Lin Hui Yi created a visual portrayal of a per-person, per-day rate of a national poverty line. Their series Poverty Line started with China, Japan, Nepal and Thailand and has been extended to other continents since. It displays what a poor person can buy in a day in her country’s context. They are not trying to compare different countries' poverty but consider their work as a starting point to understand poverty and leave it up to viewer's interpretation.

Que mange-t-on quand on est pauvre ? Pauvre, c'est à dire quand on a des revenus au niveau du seuil de pauvreté. Qu'est-ce qu'une personne pauvre peut acheter par jour dans son pays ? C'est ce que le photographe Stefen Chow et l'économiste Lin Hui Yin ont tenté de représenter dans leur projet Poverty Line. L'expérience a commencé en Chine, au Japon, en Thaïlande et au Népal puis a été étendue aux autres continents. Pas de comparaison entre les pays, ils donnent juste un point de départ pour comprendre la pauvreté et en laissent la libre interprétation au spectateur.
